Italy

“True to the confluence theme of HemisFair ’68, Italy has produced a stately pavilion honoring Italian participation in the discovery and development of the new world. The pavilion’s theme is described as “Half a Millennium of Italian Presence in the Americas””. (HemisFair Guidebook, 1968)

This pavilion was divided into three main areas: well known Italian navigators, history of Italians in the new world, and Italian art fro both worlds new and old.

“And , here, too, are exciting glimpses of contemporary Italy, including a look at the San Marco project, a joint Italian-American space venture that launched a satellite into orbit from a floating pad off the coast of Africa”. (HemisFair Guidebook, 1968)
